Closing date: 31 Aug 2017The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra (SDSO) seeks entrepreneurial string players (violin, viola, and cello) interested in starting a Suzuki studio in Sioux Falls, SD. The SDSO is leading the effort to add more musicians and teachers to the area, as the demand for additional Suzuki teachers in the Sioux Falls region is high and many of the local Suzuki teachers have over a two-year waiting list of students. Local Suzuki teachers fully support additional teachers in the area and will provide contacts to build teaching network. In addition, the SDSO is in need of talented string players to fill out the sections of the orchestra. The ideal candidate for this position demonstrates outstanding artistry, dynamic communication skills, and a desire to contribute to the creative environment of a growing orchestra.

Closing date: 30 Sept 2017The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra (SDSO) is a dynamic regional orchestra of 86 professional musicians that performs in the 1800-seat, acoustically superb Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The orchestra’s season consists of 7 Classical concerts, 4 Pops concerts, 5 Chamber concerts, family and educational concerts, special programs (Lakota Music Project and Music as Medicine), and regional tours. The SDSO enjoys a growing audience and numerous sold-out performances. Recent and upcoming guest artists include Time for Three, Eliot Fisk, Emanuele Arciuli, and Martin Kuuskmann. Concerts are broadcast on South Dakota Public Radio.
This position is available for employment at the beginning of the 2017-2018 season; benefits are not available. The SDSO expects associate musicians to be available for at least 80% of the guaranteed services; more details are available upon request. These are currently one-year positions, with the potential to be tenured track positions.
